Players diving into MW3’s Warzone noticed that Akimbo Tyrs with Snake Shot ammo were capable of one-shot kills. This forced CoD developers to roll out an emergency patch that removed the accessory completely.
There have been many faulty weapons in Call of Duty’s long history. Since the Akimbo 1887s, weapons capable of killing in one shot at long range have been painful for players. Indeed, the latter are not fans of being eliminated suddenly, without being able to react.

And, naturally, history repeats itself. The Akimbo Tyr class with Snake Shot ammo proved to be incredibly powerful, to the point where players using this combination believed it might be one of the most flawed in CoD history.
However, the MW3 developers quickly intervened and disabled the Snake Shot on the Tyr. This may have saved the Warzone meta over the holidays.

Weapon nerfs are quite common in CoD, as players discover powerful weapon and attachment combinations. Even with an experienced development team, it’s not always possible for developers to spot the most flawed combinations before players discover them.

But when players started abusing Akimbo Tyrs with Snake Shot to eliminate, action had to be taken. Some players were taking out entire squads before they might even land a shot.

As a result, Raven stepped in and performed an almost unprecedented balancing act for CoD: they removed the Snake Shot.
We’ve disabled the Snakeshot Ammunition on the Tyr Handgun due to its overwhelming strength, which didn’t align with our intended vision for engagements.
We are actively exploring ways to balance it in the future, in conjunction with other planned adjustments.

While it can still be used in private playlists and is still visible in-game, the accessory can no longer be used in public matches. Snake Shot ammo has effectively been removed from Warzone and MW3.

The response from Warzone and MW3 players has been almost unanimously complimentary, with many already tired of the Tyr meta. It is still unclear when, and if, Snake Shot ammo will be reactivated.
