Ferries carrying vacationers in the so-called The Wisła district has been very popular for years. Słonka, Wilga and Pliszka transport Varsovians from one bank of the Vistula to the other – but in the central area of the river, on the Vistula boulevards.

Now the Dudek ferry has joined them. It runs between the Młociny marina (access from Papirusów Street at Park Młociński) and the descent to the Vistula River from ul. Grzymalitów in Tarchomin. The crossing from Młociny to Tarchomin takes regarding 6 minutes. The other way – 8 minutes. (because the ferry then goes once morest the current of the river).

– The inhabitants of Bielany and Białołęka, especially those practicing cycling, really wanted to resume the ferry connection between these districts, which operated four years ago, before the pandemic. We managed to do it this year thanks to a project within the participatory budget – says Jan Piotrowski, plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Warsaw for the Vistula. – Already on the first day of the cruise we had a full set of passengers. The atmosphere of excitement in the queue for the ferry shows how much this ferry is needed. Now the inhabitants of Tarchomin can easily visit Las Młociński, and the inhabitants of Bielany can see their district from a completely different perspective – he adds.

Covered catamaran

For the needs of the crossing, a new, fully functional unit was built under the flag of the Wisła District. Dudek is a 12-seat catamaran with a length of over 11 meters and a width of 3 meters. It can take 10 passengers and 2 crew members on board. It weighs 4 tons and is powered by a 115 hp engine.

The ship has two hulls connected in parallel and a small draft of 0.25 m, which allows navigation also at a low river level. On the 30 m2 of the deck there are comfortable seats and bicycle racks. The seats for Dudek’s passengers are covered. You can also take your dog on board.

The cabin located at the stern is intended for the captain and seaman. At the bow of the ship there is a mechanical gangway to facilitate boarding and disembarkation.

Schedule

The shuttle is free. The entire project was implemented by the Green Management of the Capital City of Warsaw as part of the Civic Budget (the “Crossing the Vistula” project).

from May 1 to August 31, the ferry operates from 10 am. In May and August until 19, and on the longest days of June and July until 20. Frequency: on working days 2 shuttles there and back per hour, and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays 3 shuttles there and back per hour.

The ferry is equipped with a gangway enabling safe and easy boarding and disembarkation, also for passengers with disabilities in wheelchairs or the blind with a guide dog. If necessary, the crew will provide floating platforms for safe boarding and disembarkation.

In addition, the cruise operator is to organize 4 kayaking trips with 15 single or double kayaks for each trip, on the Rusałka beach – Modlin route or along the Żerański channel, on the Żerański Port – Nieporęt route. Details of the planned trips can be found on the Facebook profile of the Wisła District.
