CLUTCH CURRY
Stephen Curry is no stranger to clutch buckets, and he’s no stranger to celebrating them either. And following hitting the Kings with the ‘Night, Night’ on Friday and following that up with a Macaulay Culkin Home Alone-like expression on Sunday in Houston, one has to think what’s next for the four-time NBA Champion and two-time MVP. Friday night’s celebration came following Curry knocked down a 3-pointer to put the game away. The Kings were mounting a furious comeback, trimming an 18-point deficit down to five, but Curry’s game-clinching trey with 43 seconds left ended any hope of the Kings completing the comeback. Likewise, on Sunday, the Rockets hadn’t led since late in the first quarter, but found themselves with a lead and all the momentum midway through the final period. Enter Curry. After Draymond Green and put the Dubs in front with a layup, Curry added to the lead – and kept adding to it – with four straight made 3-pointers, the last of which caused him to put his hands on his cheeks and scream in excitement as popularized by Culkin in the 1990 film, which Curry describes as his favorite holiday movie.

NEW ORLEANS SCOUTING REPORT
After reaching the play-in tournament last season despite an injury to Zion Williamson that kept him out of action for the second half of the season, the Pelicans are looking to take a step forward in 2023-24 this season with a healthy Williamson. So far, so good. New Orleans has won each of their first two games this season, and while they have some potent offensive weapons in Williamson, a two-time NBA All-Star, one-time All-Star Brandon Ingram and veteran guard CJ McCollum, it has been the team’s defense that has carried them to success so far this season. In fact, their defensive rating of 93.6 (points allowed per 100 possessions) is the best in the NBA thus far, albeit in a small two-game sample size.
