Felipe Salto, Chief Economist specialist in Fiscal Policy at Warren Rena was elected Economist of the Year by the Order of Economists of Brazil.
The nomination, made by former minister Delfim Netto to the Superior Council of the Order, recognizes Salto’s work as Secretary of Finance during the term of Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB) and his achievements at the head of the Independent Fiscal Institution (IFI) in the Senate, including in the founding and acting as the first Executive Director. The suggestion was approved unanimously.
The award is part of an ongoing program to recognize professionals in the field and is an initiative of the Order of Economists of Brazil since 1959.
To receive the honor, are nominated professionals whose contributions strengthen the country’s economic development and promote critical reflection on the subject.
Salto, who joined Warren Rena in January 2023, was already Secretary of Finance and Planning for the State of São Paulo in 2022, held the position of executive director of the Independent Fiscal Institution and acted in the economic advisory of Senator José Serra.
The renowned economist was also a professor of Macroeconomics at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and of Public Finance at the Professional Master’s Degree in Economics at the IDP (Institute for Development and Research).
