Jeon Mo, who murdered a female station worker in her 20s at Sindang Station on the Seoul subway the other day, appeared at the Seoul Central District Court this followingnoon for a substantive examination of the arrest warrant.
Jeon, who appeared for the first time following the incident, entered the court without saying anything to reporters’ questions.
[전 모 씨/피의자]
(Why did you commit the crime?)
“‥”
(Are you admitting to the charges of stalking and threatening?)
“‥”
After the 30-minute substantive examination, Jeon left a brief ‘I’m sorry’.
[전 모 씨/피의자]
(Do you have anything to say to the victim?)
“I’m just sorry.”
(Do you have anything to say to the victim?)
“sorry.”
Chun was arrested by the police two days ago on charges of murdering a female station worker in her 20s, who was a motive for joining the company, in a bathroom at Sindang Station two days ago.
It is understood that Jeon has been stalking victims and filming them illegally over 300 times since the end of 2019.
In October of last year, the victim was handed over to trial, but the court dismissed the arrest warrant saying there was no fear of escaping or destroying evidence.
At Sindang Station, where the incident took place, a space has been prepared to commemorate the victims, and citizens have continued to visit.
Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Kim Kwang-ho, who visited Sindang Station today, announced that he would open a deliberation committee on the disclosure of the identity of the perpetrator as soon as possible.
Whether to issue an arrest warrant for Jeon is expected to be decided late tonight.
