Warns of the risks of buying second-hand lawn robots: You could be left with both the robot and the money | Business

Recently, a resident of Radviliškis district lost his purchase because of this – it turned out that the device he bought on the secondary market was stolen in Sweden. Experts say that such cases may increase, so residents should be careful and not choose lawn robots sold on the followingmarket.

“The desire to save a little can encourage residents to look for lawn robots on the secondary market, buy from other people supposedly used by themselves, and so on. However, sometimes such a decision can be risky, because sellers can also offer stolen equipment.

It is worth remembering that the robotic lawnmower can be tracked – Husqvarna robots have built-in GPS transmitters and the exact location can be determined based on their signal, even if the robotic lawnmower has started operating in another country. In this case, the lawn robot is returned to the rightful owner, following taking it from the person who bought it – he is left not only without the purchase, but also without the money,” says Aidas Lebeda, the head of Husqvarna Lietuva company.

According to the interviewer, a resident of the Radviliškis district recently found himself in exactly this situation, when it turned out that the robotic lawnmower he had purchased was stolen in Sweden.

A resident of Sweden noticed that his lawn robot was stolen last year. A few months later, he noticed in the phone’s smart app designed to control the robot that the robotic lawnmower was turned on once more in Lithuania, where it was transported to several places until it finally started working in the Radviliškis district.

“Then the owner turned to Husqvarna, we in turn turned to the Lithuanian police. After only a couple of days, the robot was collected from the new owner, and checked at the authorized dealer’s store and confirmed that it is the same robot that was stolen in Sweden. Today it has already been handed over to the real owner”, says A. Lebeda.

According to the chief police commissariat of Šiauliai County, Radviliškis district, which investigated the case. head of the police commissariat according to researcher Živilės Pranienės, a resident of Radviliškis district bought the lawn robot from an unknown person based on an advertisement on the Internet.

Radviliškis r. head of the police commissariat according to the researcher, thefts of lawn robots occur in Lithuania, but so far it is not a mass phenomenon. She advises buyers, before purchasing a second-hand robotic lawnmower, not only to ask the seller to provide all relevant documents, but also to pay attention to the seller’s personality, communication, place of sale and similar aspects, and if anyone is suspicious, not to buy from such a person or companies.

The manager of the garden machinery manufacturer “Husqvarna Lietuva” points out that in order to make sure that the lawn robot is not stolen, you can always present the robot to any official dealer and ask for a check. As a rule, owners should register thefts not only with the police, but also with the Husqvarna Autocheck program, so the employee will immediately see it based on certain parameters of the robotic lawnmower.

In his opinion, buying a lawn robot on the secondary market is risky, and because it is unclear how long the product has been used and how well it has been maintained, its mechanical parts may be worn out, the electronics may malfunction, thus shortening the service life.

“If you still want to buy a used product, it’s worth choosing a reliable, familiar or someone-recommended seller, as well as asking for the purchase, use, warranty service documents of the robotic lawnmower – every owner who takes proper care of his property should have such data,” advises A .Lebeda.

The garden equipment expert points out that there are also cases when completely new robotic lawnmowers are sold on the secondary market, but they can also be stolen, so you should not lose your vigilance when buying a new product even at non-official outlets. It is always safest and most reliable to buy the product at authorized outlets.
