A Warner Bros. Discovery announced today the Maxa new streaming service that will add to the catalog of Discovery+ to the do HBO Max — something that was expected. The official launch of the platform will be in May 23 and will be restricted, initially, only to the United States.
During this followingnoon’s event, Warner guaranteed that Max’s values will remain the same for those who are already a subscriber to HBO Max – but did not say, for example, until when this should be worth it.
When launched, the old service app will be replaced by the newly announced one and all user data will be automatically migrated. Max will arrive with three plans available, one of them with ads. Are they:
- Max Ad-Lite ($10/month or $100/year): Offers two screens with simultaneous playback, HD resolution (1080p) and 5.1 surround sound quality;
- Max Ad Free ($16/month or $150/year): Also offers two simultaneous streams, HD resolution (1080p), 5.1 surround sound quality and up to 30 title downloads to watch offline;
- Max Ultimate Ad Free ($20/month or $200/year): Supports four simultaneous streams, Ultra HD 4K resolution, up to 100 offline downloads, and Dolby Atmos sound quality.
According to Warner, Max will be easier to use than HBO Max and will feature simplified navigation, in addition to having more customization features. Streaming is also expected to bring an improved experience for children and improvements in content playback, in order to provide a “smooth and cinematic” viewing.
The name change to Max, of course, has to do with the variety of programs, movies and other content that will be offered by the service. That’s because brands like HGTV, Food Network, Discovery Channel, TLC e ID will become part of the streaming catalogue. Even so, Discovery+ should also remain an independent service, points out Variety.
With the announcement of the platform in the US, the profile of the service in Brazil pronounced and said that “more information will be shared soon, closer to launch.”
For now, there’s a rumor that the Max might arrive here between September and October of this year; information regarding prices in reais was also not officially shared.
