Warm weather and possible thunderstorms forecast for San Diego County this week

The coast will experience partly cloudy mornings, followed by mostly sunny skies.

San Diego | Warm conditions will continue in San Diego County through the week, with the possibility of showers and thunderstorms returning to the mountains and potentially spreading into the deserts, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

San Diego’s coast will experience partly cloudy mornings, followed by mostly sunny skies through the week, with some fog at night and highs in the 70s and 80s. In the county’s deserts, temperatures are expected to reach triple digits throughout the week, with thunderstorms possible on Wednesday.

The valleys will see mostly sunny conditions, with highs also in the 80s and 90s, while the mountains will see clear skies with possible light thunderstorms toward the end of the week and highs reaching the upper 80s.

Downtown San Diego recorded a high near 78 degrees Sunday, accompanied by a light breeze. Patchy fog is expected after 11 p.m., with a low around 67 degrees.

For Monday, the San Diego surf forecast calls for a moderate risk of rip currents, with waves ranging from 2 to 4 feet high, water temperatures between 70 and 76 degrees, and a west swell of 280 degrees and a south swell of 210 degrees.

The NWS noted that low clouds and evening and morning fog are expected to become patchier through midweek, with the possibility of a deeper marine layer toward the end of the week.
