War in Ukraine: Zaporizhia nuclear power plant disconnected from the electricity grid again

Ukraine’s Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, occupied by Russian forces, has “lost connection once more“to the electricity network, announced on Saturday the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), whose experts are on site.

Earlier in the day, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had offered his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the mediation of Turkey in the crisis around the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, located in southern Ukraine.

The disconnection of the power plant, which had already occurred on August 25occurred”following new bombardments in the area“, according to the IAEA. However, the plant continues to operate “through a helpline“which feeds it, thus allowing the cooling of the nuclear fuel, specifies the IAEA.
