A soldier who died shouting “Slava Ukraini” (“Glory to Ukraine”) and became the symbol of the resistance of an entire country. We now know who this famous soldier is. He was called Oleksandr Matsievskyi. He was a sniper in the 163rd battalion of the 119th territorial defense brigade in the Chernihiv region (Ukraine). Aged 42, he was above all… a Moldovan citizen.
In fact, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Oleksandr’s murder. Stating in a press release that this was a war crime that might violate international law. Moldova, a state located between Ukraine and Romania, took the opportunity to denounce this war and reaffirm its support for Ukraine.
