War in Ukraine: Sergei Lavrov justifies the Russian invasion by citing Belgium

This Sunday evening, Sergei Lavrov was the guest of 8 p.m. on TF1. Interviewed, he was able to answer several questions. Inevitably, the war in Ukraine was at the center of the debate. Once once more, the Russian Foreign Minister tried to justify the aggression once morest his neighbour. And he, this time, used an argument other than the denazification of Ukraine. “You know, we do this because we have to”he began. “We want to protect the people of Donbass. We also want to protect the Russian language which has been directly discriminated once morest and attacked by successive regimes in Ukraine.”

After this justification, he took the example of Belgium to support his argument. “How would France react if Belgium banned the French language? Where would England do if Ireland banned English? In Europe, you can’t imagine that. But when it comes to Russian, nobody cares.”

He also said that this region of Donbass was a top priority. On the other hand, kyiv is no longer a priority. “Our absolute priority is the liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions which are now recognized by the Russian Federation as independent states”, Lavrov said. On the other hand, he still refuses to speak of “annexation” for these two regions.
