War in Ukraine: Bruno Le Maire calls on all French people to “make an effort” on their energy consumption

This Monday morning on BFMTV, the Minister of the Economy called on all French people to “make an effort” on their energy consumption to cope with rising energy prices.

Asked regarding the rise in energy prices, Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, believes that “everyone must make an effort.” The Bercy tenant returned to the war in Ukraine and its impact on the French economy.

“We must all make an effort, all of us realize that we are entering a new world, all of us realize that we will have to accelerate our independence from fossil fuels. If there is one positive thing to to draw from this crisis (…) is to build our total independence in energy matters and to be much less dependent on fossil fuels”, declared the Minister of the Economy on BFMTV.

Bruno Le Maire also specified that the conflict in Ukraine should call on France to become more energy independent. “If there is one positive thing (in this conflict), if we can find it, it is to build our total independence in an energetic way.”
