War in Ukraine: Auchan, Lacoste, Bonduelle… these French companies which continue their activity in Russia

24 of the 215 groups continuing their activities in Russia are French.

While several French companies left Russia at the start of the war, some others are still continuing their activities in Russia, almost as if nothing had happened. Of the 215 international groups still established in Russia, 24 are French, reveals the University of Yale (United States), which is interested in the subject.

Among the brands known to all: Auchan, Lacoste, Leroy Merlin, Vinci, Veolia, Bonduelle, Clarins, Etam, Dessange, La Redoute, Lactalis, or the Accor group, a famous hotel group. The list can be found in its entirety at the document published by the University.

Most of these companies clarified their positions and explained the reason why they remained on Russian soil. “Our job is to do everything so that the inhabitants of the countries in which we operate can have access to good quality food at an affordable price and thus meet the essential food needs of civilian populations”. Auchan in particular justified itself in a press release. The group also announced that it had ceased all investment in Russia.

20 other companies clarified their positions a few weeks ago in the JDD. “Our global exposure is not significant”, affirmed for example the Vinci group, while Lacoste explained, among other things, that it no longer sent supplies of stocks to Russia.

Finally, other companies such as Danone and Yves Rocher have announced that they will stop investing in Russia but are continuing their main activity there.
