A renewed search for a lost hiker in St. Wolfgang in the Salzkammergut on Monday was unsuccessful. The 39-year-old remains missing.
“At 12:10 p.m. on April 2, 20023, the police were informed regarding a 39-year-old hiker who had been missing in the garden tine area since April 1, 2023. During the initial search, the bicycle was found at the starting point and the Rußbach fire brigade’s search on hiking trails was negative, which is why mountain rescue locations, search dogs from the Upper Austria and Salzburg mountain rescue services, the police helicopter and a fire brigade drone were subsequently deployed. However, the search had to be aborted without success.
On April 03, 2023 from 08:00 a.m., the search for the missing person from the Gmunden district was continued with a large contingent of emergency services. In consultation with the district authority of Gmunden, this was once more aborted at 17:30 without success, as no further clues might be found as to the whereregardings of the missing person. Even during the search operation, he might not be found. The search will be resumed or continued if there is sound evidence or in small groups, ”reported the police.
