Music as therapy. After the death of keyboardist Christian Hummer and Wanda’s dad Werner Fitzthum, Wanda are back with the new hit “Bei Nobody Else”. Heavily drawn as a trio and not just in the video.
“We will never be the same band once more! Wanda will uphold values and messages, but it’s a completely different situation. A transition into something completely new. I just go with the flow. I don’t have any fantasies anymore.” Marco Wanda is also dealing with the big dramas with Wanda’s new hit “Nobody else’s” released today. Keyboardist Christian Hummer died in September. In the spring, following months of illness, his father Werner Fitzthum also went. In between, “on January 3rd and following the shittiest New Year’s Eve of all time” he wrote the new hit. Also as encouragement and therapy: “Grief and loss are such personal things. With this song I tried to let the music do the talking. Even in the absence of your own words.”

“The music was the only bright spot for us throughout the months!”
His father still heard the demo. “He said, ‘Congratulations. This is a song in which I, but also many other people, will feel at home. You can’t get more praise than that.” In the studio (“That was our therapy!”) we found ourselves following months of shock (“People tell me regarding meetings and conversations from the time where I was obviously present, but that’s all for me completely wiped out”) the common consolation. “As bad as we felt personally, we had so much fun making music. That was the only bright spot for us throughout the months.”

Wanda now just the three of us
Exciting: in the new band photos and also in the video shot with a Ukrainian film team in Georgia (“These are memories that I will keep in my heart forever.”), Marco Wanda only appears with guitarist Manuel Poppe and bassist Ray Weber. Drummer Valentin Wegscheider is nowhere to be seen. “The three of us wanted to perform because ultimately we are the people who went through everything,” he explains the new family line-up in the AUSTRIA interview.

Christmas concert without Christmas songs but with a minute of mourning
The live premiere of the new hit “Nobody Else”, which is also available as a vinyl single made from recycled frying fat (“This is the future!”), will take place on December 22nd at the big Christmas concert in the Wiener Stadthalle. In addition to lots of “Amore” and “a few surprises,” Wanda also promises the “Big Rock-N-Roll-as-Fuck Party: “There will definitely be no Christmas songs.” But there will be a minute of silence for Christian Hummer . “I assume that there are a lot of people in the town hall who knew Christian. And everyone who knew him appreciated and loved him.”
