A member of the large gang of pickpockets who swept the MMM of Athens, he describes to a relative that he continues his criminal activity undisturbed despite the arrests by the Police. Criminals from Romania had made our country a magnet for thieves among themselves, taking advantage of the impunity and restrictive conditions imposed on them.
These are the members of one of the six criminal subgroups that were dismantled after coordinated operations of the Athens Security Sub-Directorate last Monday. Acting as an accessory, they committed thefts from tourists and citizens in public transport and in tourist areas, while at the same time they opened vehicles, trafficked narcotics and circulated counterfeit banknotes in the center of Athens.

“No, I’m not going blue anymore! Finally, I’m done with this blue, no! Because I’ll end up getting into trouble with the Albanians and I won’t even make money!”, says one of the members of a criminal subgroup in a conversation.
The thugs from Romania and those of Albanian origin had… divided the metro and ISAP lines so that they would not enter each other’s fields. They had made an informal agreement where if they went ahead with a robbery at a location where another criminal group was active, they would keep the cellphones and cash but leave the bank cards. In fact, the pickpockets had found a way to immediately empty the cards even when they did not have a PIN, using POS, which they had in the places where they lived. In order to leave no traces they usually stayed in airbnb and changed residences frequently.
A total of 237 members of the 6 gangs were identified, of which 50 were arrested, 6 are locked up in detention facilities, while one has been extradited to authorities abroad. The illegal financial benefit of all subgroups amounts to 1,400,000 euros!
Shootings
A member of the one gang that specialized in house burglaries in Attica, it was found that he was also the identified perpetrator of the shootings of the three Cretans in a club in Gazi in December 2023. Two more identified criminals were involved in the homicide that took place on March 8, outside a cafe in Agios Panteleimonas. The bloody clash had occurred due to disputes related to drug trafficking.
