Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Monday, as investors braced for the start of the profit-taking season, which might see pressure on corporate earnings at a time when fears of an economic slowdown are growing due to successive interest rate hikes.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell at the open 60.17 points, or 0.19%, to 31,277.98 points. The Standard & Poor’s index fell 18.44 points, or 0.47%, to 3880.94 points, while the Nasdaq Composite fell 110.82 points, or 0.95%, to 11,524.49 points at the open.
