The Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) describes exercise as the “set of body movements that are performed to maintain or improve physical fitness.” Therefore, the Mayo Clinic speaks of two: aerobics and strength.
It is then that anaerobic exercises, according to the EUFIC are those activities that require strength and improve resistance such as weight lifting.
Besides, If what is sought is to lose weight, in a total of 300 minutes distributed in 42 minutes each day of the week, a person can achieve this goal. It should be remembered that, in this exercise, you can walk, run, swim, ride a bicycle, among others, since unlike muscular exercise, it does not require weight lifting.
According to a study, walking reduces the risk of death
Hence, aerobic exercises such as walking are essential for health, avoiding the risk of premature death, if it takes place every day. This is confirmed by a study by the University of Cambridge, published in British Journal of Sports Medicine, where he concludes that at least 11 minutes of physical routine daily have the ability to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
The experts, through a meta-analysis -196 articles of at least 30 million people- with variables such as chronic diseases, determined the time that a person might exercise, and thus reduce the risk of death.
“We know that physical activity, such as walking or biking, is good for you, especially if you feel your heart rate increase. But what we’ve found is that there are substantial benefits for heart health and reducing the risk of cancer, even if you can only drive 10 minutes every day”specifies Professor James Woodcock of the MRC Epidemiology Unit, quoted by ABC Health.
In addition, as described by the scientists, they made a hypothesis believing that if at least 150 minutes of exercise per week had been accumulated by the study participants, 11% of cardiovascular diseases would have been avoided; 16% of premature deaths and even 5% of diseases such as cancer.
It is worth mentioning that the studyAssociation of step volume and intensity with all-cause mortality in older women’ chaired by Min Lee of Harvard Medical School, among other authors, concluded that those who choose to walk reduce mortality rates. This was determined with an investigation where 16,471 72-year-old women participated, who walked at least 4,400 steps a day for an estimated time of 4.3 years.
