Egyptian Attorney General
For his part, the Egyptian Public Prosecutor “ordered the imprisonment of seven defendants in the incident of the death of a pharmacist in the Helwan area, south of Cairo, on charges of detaining, torturing and intimidating the victim, which ended with his fall from the balcony of his residence and his death.”
According to the prosecutor’s statement issued on Wednesday, “disputes erupted between the pharmacist Walaa Zayed and the family of his first wife because of her request to divorce his second wife, whom he recently married, which the victim acquiesced to as he was subjected to physical violence.”
Eyewitnesses from the family of the victim told the Public Prosecution that the pharmacist called his family for help from the attempt of the family of his first wife to coerce him to divorce the second wife.
According to the prosecution, it “observed posts on social media accusing the pharmacist’s first wife, six members of her family and their acquaintances, of deliberately killing him and throwing him from the balcony of his house.”
The prosecution denied what was circulated by some on social media that the victim’s family and his son had witnessed the accused deliberately throwing the victim from the balcony.
It also quoted police investigations that he did this himself because of the psychological pressure and physical violence he was subjected to from the accused.
The prosecution delegated the forensic medicine to perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and to examine the apartment of the victim to find out the violence that occurred at the scene of the accident.
