Pakistan team failed in the group stage of the mega event played in USA and West Indies and got out of the tournament.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the PCB said: ‘The Pakistan Cricket Board has informed Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services are no longer required in the setup of the national selection committee.’

Wahab Riaz was retained in the seven-member men’s selection committee even following he was removed as the panel’s chairman earlier this year.
In response to the sacking, Wahab Riaz said in a statement on X on Wednesday night that ‘a lot can be said regarding this but I don’t want to be part of the blame game.’
In his statement, he said: ‘I am proud to be a part of the seven-member selection panel, where every vote counts. We decided the selection as a team and all (members) had equal responsibility in the process.’
Wishing the team all the best for the future, he said: ‘I am confident that with the coaches’ plans for the team, it will continue to improve and emerge as a dominant force. My best wishes are with him in this journey.’
Earlier, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had indicated major changes in the context of the team’s poor performance in the World Cup.
After back-to-back defeats by the relatively new USA team and arch-rivals India in the T20 World Cup last month, Mohsin Naqvi slammed the management, saying the team needed a ‘major surgery’.
Speaking to the Pakistani media in New York, Mohsin Naqvi had added that ‘I thought the team needed a minor surgery but now it looks like we will have to go for a major surgery.’
