Wagner Group boss asks Putin to stop war in Ukraine

The boss of the Wagner militia, engaged in the fighting in Ukraine and particularly on the Bakhmout front, called on Moscow to declare the end of the war in Ukraine in a long text published on Telegram.

According to Yevgeny Prigojine, the objectives of the “special military operation” have been achieved. The Russian forces succeeded in “eradicate most of Ukraine’s working male population and intimidate the rest”

According to him, Russia holds “a good part” of Ukrainian territory. He suggests sticking to it firmly and defending it by any means necessary. “These territories, which are now under the control of Russia, can remain at its disposal for years,” he said.

“For the authorities and for society as a whole, it is now necessary to put a definitive end to [l’opération militaire spéciale]. The ideal scenario is to announce the end of the ‘special military operation’, to let everyone know that Russia has achieved the results it expected and, in a sense, we have actually achieved them. We wiped out a large number of fighters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and we can declare that the goals have been achieved”, is it written in the text.
