Wage negotiations at Boeing failed | Nachrichten.at

In the USA, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) union announced late on Friday (local time) that it had broken off wage negotiations with Boeing. “We remain open to discussions with the company, either directly or through mediation,” said the IAM in a post on X. No further dates for negotiations are planned for the time being. A Boeing spokesman said in an email that the company remains committed to repairing its relationship with workers and wants to reach an agreement as soon as possible. “We are ready to meet at any time,” the spokesman wrote. More than 32,000 Boeing workers in the Seattle area and Portland, Oregon, walked off work Sept. 13 in the union’s first strike since 2008, halting production of aircraft models including Boeing’s best-selling 737 MAX. The union is demanding a 40 percent wage increase and the restoration of a defined benefit pension that was removed from the contract ten years ago.
