MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. Two-time Olympic champion, former chairman of the board of directors of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) Vyacheslav Fetisov said that the league should return all clubs that developed Russian hockey to the championship. He told reporters regarding this.

Before the 2023/24 season, Lada, which last played in the KHL in 2018, returned to the league. At one time, Novokuznetsk Metallurg and Voskresensk Khimik played in the KHL.

“I believe that Novokuznetsk should return – there is colossal interest there, a historically established reality. Miners and metallurgists are waiting for big hockey, a large number of megastars have grown there. I have talked more than once with the governor, we are opening an academy there named following me. He advocates for it all to return. The big business that makes money there must do everything to ensure that the team appears there. And people, having received a new arena, returned big hockey,” Fetisov said.

“It will be in demand, a full stadium, fair to the history and everything connected with the region. I believe that the KHL should bring back those clubs that historically developed our wonderful game,” he added.
