Over 100,000 vehicles affected worldwide
VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda have to recall more than 100,000 vehicles worldwide because of a possible fire hazard in the engine compartment – in Germany around 40,000 vehicles are affected by this recall. These include volume models such as the Audi Q3, Skoda Octavia and VW Golf.
According to the KBA, “inadequate fastening of the engine design cover can lead to contact with hot parts and consequently to a fire”. So far, 16 cases are known in Germany in which exactly that happened.
VW is hardest hit by the recall campaign, with 58,100 vehicles worldwide having to go to the workshop. At Cupra there are 30,467 vehicles, Skoda has to call 15,636 into the workshop. Audi (6320 cars) and Seat (798 vehicles) got off relatively lightly.

That depends on the owner
Owners of the vehicles mentioned will be contacted directly. But: you have to go to the workshop twice! During the first visit, the affected component is removed in order to first eliminate the possible cause of the fire. Duration: just a few minutes.
During the second visit to the workshop, the old cover is replaced with a more stable version. When the second visit is due is not yet known – probably because no new parts are available yet.
