After a turbulent transfer summer with ten additions and 15 departures, the winter at LASK was much quieter. The third-place team in the Bundesliga signed three players: Valon Berisha, Lucas Copado and Metodi Maksimov, with the latter being loaned out straight away. What the future of fan favorite Peter Michorl looks like is still unclear. “There are always inquiries, but no concrete offer,” said LASK sports director Radovan Vujanovic.
The 28-year-old midfielder lost his place in coach Thomas Sageder’s team at the start of the season, but still made 13 appearances in the fall due to injuries. Most recently, Michorl was not allowed to travel to Linz’s winter training camp in Belek, Turkey. “Unfortunately, there is no place for him in the team at the moment. Unfortunately, that’s sometimes the case in football. If an offer comes along that he and we are happy with, then we won’t put any obstacles in his way,” emphasized Vujanovic in the APA Interview. But Michorl is part of the club and still has a contract until the summer.
“We will only strike if there is a player who can help us immediately”
The rumor about a move to Vienna Austria does not seem to be getting any stronger at the moment, Austria sports director Manuel Ortlechner also emphasized this at the spring opening PK in Vienna on Tuesday. With the signing of veteran Berisha (30), who was recently without a club, Michorl also received additional competition in his position. “Valon Berisha is a leader who knows what’s at stake,” said sports director Vujanovic about the long-time Salzburg professional. After several months without a competitive game, the Upper Austrians will have some time to get used to it.
With the departure of Thomas Goiginger to VfL Osnabrück and the premature end of the loan of Roma player Ebrima Darboe, the LASK squad was further reduced on Thursday after Husein Balic also recently left Linz. “We have a really good squad and are very satisfied at the moment,” explained Vujanovic, who almost ruled out further additions in the transfer window, which is open until February 6th. “We will only strike if there is a player who can help us immediately.”
