Ben O’Connor won the 6th stage of the Vuelta 2024. The Australian took advantage of the opportunity to cause the only change of leader of the day. For their part, two Belgians kept their distinctive jersey.
Winner with a 6min31 lead over the group of favorites, O’Connor will ride in red from this Friday. The AG2R-Decathlon rider will have a nice cushion over his competitors. Primoz Roglic, first among them, is 4min51 behind. Joao Almeida completes this provisional podium at 4min59. Note that Florian Lipowitz and Cristian Rodriguez took advantage of the day’s breakaway to enter the top 10 in 4th and 6th position.
Two incursions that push Lennert Van Eetvelt back to 9th position. In the best young rider ranking, the Belgian loses a place and is behind Lipowitz and Anthony Tiberius.
If he were to don the white tunic in the coming days, the small format would perhaps join two of his compatriots on the protocol podium. Sylvain Moniquet et Wout van Aert had a peaceful day. Both men remain at the top of the mountain and points classifications respectively.
