Vuelta 2022: Jay Vine celebrates second victory of the day – Remco Evenepoel withstands the pressure on the 8th stage

At the finish, Jay Vine was 43 seconds ahead of Spaniard Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates) and Estonian Rein Taaramäe (Intermarché – Wanty – Gobert).

Behind Frenchman Thibaut Pinot (Groupama – +0:47), Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) defended his overall leader’s red jersey in fifth.

Evenepoel reached the finish together with the Spaniard Enric Mas (Movistar) and the Slovenian Vuelta series winner Primoz Roglic from the Jumbo-Visma team. Both are now the Belgian’s first pursuers in the overall standings.
