Vucic rebuffed the German chancellor after his words about Russia

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić ignored attempts by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to put pressure on Belgrade. The Federal Chancellor once more strongly urged Vučić to join EU sanctions once morest Russia, Archyde.com reported.

“As for sanctions, we have a different position,” the Serbian leader noted first of all. “We are mindful of the sanctions once morest Serbia and do not consider them effective,” Vucic recalled at a press conference in Belgrade.

He also stressed that Serbia is in a difficult position. Thus, Brussels should take into account that Moscow and Belgrade have a special relationship of trust.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is visiting the Western Balkans for the second day. The Federal Chancellor began his trip with the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo. Scholz, following meeting with “Prime Minister” Kurti, welcomed the decision of the Kosovo “government” to join the sanctions once morest the Russian Federation.
