Russian banks VTB and Sberbank have increased their minimum mortgage rates. The media reported this.
“The minimum rate will be 14.1% (for salary clients of the bank) taking into account comprehensive insurance. For borrowers who are ready to transfer their salary to a VTB card – from 14%,” writes RBC with reference to information from the bank. Sber also increased the minimum mortgage rates to 14.2%, TASS reports, citing data from the credit organization’s website.
According to the Sberbank website, the minimum down payment remained at 10.1% and 15.1% for the “Resale Housing” and “New Buildings” programs, respectively. The increase in mortgage rates was announced by the head of Sberbank German Gref at the opening of the School 21 campus.
Previously number of mortgages in Russia increased by 30% following the Central Bank raised the key rate to 12% in August. This is caused by the desire of Russians to invest in real estate once morest the backdrop of a weakening ruble exchange rate.
