Suspension of criminal proceedings in Tyrol was to be expected
Vienna (OTS) – Yesterday followingnoon, the regional court in Innsbruck announced that a continuation application from Ischgl victims had been finally rejected.
“That was to be expected. The criminal justice system in Tyrol did not investigate politicians who were active at the time, but only suspected state officials and the mayor of Ischgl and have now finally stopped these proceedings,” says Peter Kolba, chairman of the consumer protection association (VSV). “In Tyrol, people are still convinced that they have done ‘everything right’.”
Around 300 victims of the official chaos in Ischgl don’t see it that way. Claims for damages once morest the Republic of Austria and the State of Tyrol amounting to around seven million euros are still pending at the regional courts in Vienna and Innsbruck.
“We will exhaust all instances to clarify responsibility for the distribution of the rumored 11,000 infected people across Europe, announced Kolba. “We expect the Supreme Court (OGH) to interpret the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, the European Court of Justice will ask for a preliminary ruling and then further clarification will be carried out on neutral ground.”
