VRR support finally arrives

Sony announced on Wednesday several updates coming to PS4 and PS5 as well as its companion apps. If some will be deployed immediately, the most important and most anticipated is now official: the variable refresh rate (VRR) arrives on the latest consoles in a few months.

At last ! will say PlayStation fans and very happy owners of normal ps5 Where digital. Like their companions on Xbox Series X⎮S and even Xbox One X, they will soon be able to take advantage of VRR (Variable Refresh Rate)the variable refresh rate of the image.

On Wednesday, Sony made the promise through a series of announcements and updates coming to PS5 and PS4. But the one that will hold everyone’s attention is the upcoming arrival of the VRR. This is going to have the main benefit of improving the quality of image sharpness by eliminating screen tearing when the image refresh on your TV is not at the same speed as the stream sent video from your console.

Everything will then be synchronized thanks in particular to the presence of an HDMI 2.1 cable and the on-board technology. The games will then gain in fluidity, with reduced latency with sharper graphics as well. This will obviously be beneficial to upcoming titles that will feature variable refresh rate support upon release. A patch will add support for those already available.

But Sony promises that VRR can be applied to games that do not natively support it, deactivated at any time on all games as desired.

If PlayStation has therefore formalized the arrival on PS5, no date has however been given for the final deployment on consoles. On the other hand, Sony had already formalized at the beginning of March support for VRR on its televisions with support for 4K at 120Hz to plug in consoles, be it PS5 or Xbox Series…
