Voyeur male tutor sentenced to 2 weeks in prison

A male tutor was charged with acts against public morality after he secretly photographed homosexual nudes in the male changing room of the Kwun Tong swimming pool in July last year. After trial, he was convicted two weeks ago and was remanded in custody for two weeks at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts this morning (19th). The magistrate said bluntly that sexual orientation is a personal freedom, but it must not interfere with others. Moreover, the defendant suffers from voyeurism and other problems, and has the opportunity to repeat offenses, so it is appropriate to be sentenced to immediate imprisonment.

The 43-year-old defendant Huang Zhiwei is now reporting as a tutor. He is charged with taking a nude photo of Man X in the Kwun Tong swimming pool locker room on July 26, 2021. Looking through the information, the defendant was a middle school teacher, and it is not the first time he has been charged with related crimes. Five years ago, he was suspected of secretly photographing naked men in the men’s locker room of a fitness room and a public swimming pool, and was charged with 28 counts of committing acts against public morals.

When the defense pleads for mercy, the court is expected to consider a suspended sentence. However, the magistrate pointed out that although the doctor diagnosed the defendant as having no mental illness, after analyzing the defendant, a psychologist pointed out that he suffered from voyeurism, lacked insight into his own problems, and was reluctant to actively seek treatment. After the conviction, he still insisted that he was Innocent, the report also indicated that the defendant had a moderate to high chance of recidivism. The magistrate therefore did not agree that the suspended sentence could be dealt with and finally sentenced the defendant to 2 weeks in prison.
