Voting Intentions of Belgians: Insights and Favorites Ahead of the 2024 Federal Elections

8 months before the federal elections, what are the voting intentions of Belgians? And who are the favorite political figures in the three regions?

In 8 months, we will go to the polls for the next elections. The last major RTL info-Ipsos-Le Soir barometer reveals the voting intentions of Belgians as if we were voting next Sunday in the federal elections. Survey carried out online from September 18 to 25, 2023, with 2,600 people interviewed (1,000 in Wallonia, 1,000 in Flanders and 600 in Brussels). The maximum margin of error is between plus or minus 3.1 in Wallonia, plus or minus 3.1 in Flanders and plus or minus 4 in Brussels.

Voting intentions in Wallonia

In Wallonia, it is the Socialist Party (PS) which leads the poll, with 21.8% (-4.3%) of voting intentions. It is followed by the PTB which obtains 19.8% of voting intentions (+6%). The Reform Movement follows closely with 19.7% (-0.8%). The Ecolo party, for its part, received 14.9% of voting intentions, a percentage which is stabilizing. The Engagés party is 13.8% (+3.1%) and Défi obtains 2.7% (-1.4%).

Voting intentions in Brussels

In the Brussels Region, it is the Reform Movement (MR) which takes the lead in the poll, with 21.9% of the votes (+4.4). The PS collects, for its part, 18.1% (-1.9) and Ecolo 17.9% (-3.7). The PTB obtained 17.9% of the votes (+ 3) and Défi _% (- 2.3). It is the Engagés party which comes last with 6.5% of the votes (+ 0.7).

Voting intentions in Flanders

In Flanders, Vlaams Belang occupies the top of the ranking with 25.8% of voting intentions (+7.1). The N-VA obtained 20.2% of the votes (-5.3). Far behind, there is Vooruit and its 15.4% (+ 4.6), CD&V with 12.2% (-2) and PVDA which has 9.5% (+ 3.9). The Open VLD obtained 8.2% of the votes (- 5.3) and in last place, Groen which had 6.4% (- 3.4).

Who is the Belgians’ favorite personality?

For the favorite personalities of Belgians, in Wallonia and Brussels, we find Sophie Wilmès, ahead of Alexander De Croo and Paul Magnette.

In Flanders, Bart de Wever takes first place ahead of Conner Rousseau. Alexander De Croo is in third position.
