Voting for the Eurovision Song Contest this year from Leeuwarden: “Twelve points” under the Oldehove

“This will be very beautiful, with the Oldehove in the background,” says Bousema. “Hopefully it will last as long as possible and all the people here will go crazy. It is certain that Friesland will be on the map.”

Bousema believes that history is being made. Never before has the point allocation come from outside the Randstad.

“When the idea for a big party at the Oldehove came up, we had the feeling that we also had to invite AVROTROS (the broadcaster responsible for the Eurovision Song Contest, ed.) for the points count.”

“How great would it be if Europe could see what kind of party we are having here? And by putting our shoulders to the wheel together, we made it happen. I think that is typically Frisian: if something has to be done, we do it. And then it becomes big too.”
