Voridis: Nothing more can be done for the farmers – There is no scheduled meeting – 2024-02-23 07:19:02

“Nothing more can be done for farmers” stressed the Minister of State, Makis Voridispointing out that there is no scheduled meeting following the big rally that will take place today (20/02) in the followingnoon at Syntagma.

Speaking on the ERT show, he emphasized that “reserves must be used sparingly ’cause we don’t know what will find us”. The reserve is not endless. There is nothing arranged. Now I don’t know how the talks will develop. But let me convey the following: That there is nothing better to do” he said and added that “last year with Daniel we had a very big disaster. This disaster has cost us 400 million so far. If we had exhausted our reserve in the first month of the year, what would we do?’

At the same time, Mr. Voridis said that farm benefits might be put back on the table in June, depending on budget execution.

“This budget did not have the 83 million. So we said let’s do it. We can’t put in more money, meaning more money, we can’t double the amount. They want to go to 160. Well, we can’t go to that number. So, what I think the prime minister told them is a complete and sufficient answer and shows the positive intention of the government. However, we put in an amount that was not budgeted for and not only did we put it in, but they will take it accountable. That is, following they make the expense, they will take half of it in advance. So this also creates a significant cash facility for them. And in any case, we will revisit this issue in June,” noted Mr. Voridis.

For universities

For non-state universities he spoke regarding an emblematic law and regarding a subject that for the Left and the extreme left is a “sacred cow”.

“Now what is happening is that Greek children are in Nicosia, they are in Bulgaria, they are in Brussels, they are in Amsterdam, they are in London, they are in Paris. They study, get degrees from private universities. These degrees are recognized in Greece and have full professional rights. Now Greek kids are okay to be in all these capitals and in all these cities, in all these countries that I told you to be in private universities, but in Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina they are not allowed. So what this deep absurdity is doing is sending children out and burdening families and not allowing this to happen in Greece as well. We are currently faced with this absurdity.”

About the occupationsaccused the Left and the far Left of being behind the organization of illegal actions, while pledging that the government will do everything and is doing everything to implement legality.
