Vorarlberg election: Wallner struck the first stakes for negotiations

The desire to limit immigration can be clearly heard among the population. You need clear sanction rules in this area, that is a “cornerstone”. Wallner denied that this meant black and blue. That is “not mandatory”. We will first explore what is possible.

“Negotiation marathon”

The question now is what is best for the country. On Tuesday, Wallner wants to ask all party leaders to speak after internal discussions on Monday. At the end of the week it should be clear with whom there will be in-depth discussions. The “negotiation marathon” would begin the following week. In addition to limiting immigration, important topics include reducing bureaucracy and tackling high living costs for families, for example in terms of housing, as well as the future of the business location. “It is my goal to reach a result very quickly,” emphasized Wallner at the press conference in the government foyer.

How close the Vorarlberg FPÖ is to the Kickl-FPÖ will have to be clarified in discussions. It is clear that you are “not a copy of Vienna”, that applies to your own party as well as to a partner. “If I get the impression that things are being dictated from outside, the talks end quickly,” said Wallner, undoubtedly in the direction of the Freedom Party. He wants a Europe-friendly, cosmopolitan country. When asked what he would say to people who were worried about cohesion in the face of a possible black-blue coalition, Wallner emphasized: “There are red lines there too.” He will “make sure that Vorarlberg is positioned correctly.”

“Election goal achieved”

Once again, Wallner expressed his gratitude for the support. There is a clear mandate to form a government and a “work assignment,” “so the election goal has been achieved.” In view of the losses, however, they will not lose their grip on the ground. The FPÖ’s gains are “equal” and should be respected. During the election campaign, Vorarlberg stood out from other countries. All parties maintained a style in the election campaign that kept the basis for discussion open. You don’t have to take a long time to clear up any discrepancies.
