‘Voluntarios por Madrid’ already has more than 19,000 active volunteers and works on more than 100 projects annually

The volunteer corps of the Madrid City Council consolidates its work to promote solidarity, commitment and social cohesion in the city

The volunteer corps of the Madrid City Council, ‘Voluntarios por Madrid’, has surpassed the figure of 19,000 active volunteers (specifically, there are now 19,153 people registered in its ranks), consolidating itself as a fundamental pillar in the promotion of solidarity, commitment and cohesion in the city. An effective tool to improve the quality of life of Madrid residents and strengthen the social fabric of the city, favouring a more inclusive and equitable city model.

‘Volunteers for Madrid’

With a majority structure of citizens between 25 and 44 years old, of which 50% are women, in addition to assisting those who need it most, the volunteer corps is present in the various critical situations that take place in the city, as well as in its most relevant events, demonstrating its ability to organize and support major international events. Thanks to this, Madrid has been selected as the venue for Junior Eurovision 2024. This prestigious event will be held on November 16 and will have the participation of this corps for its development.

In addition, a new Volunteer Week will be held next December, coinciding with the international volunteer day, which is celebrated on December 5, during which the new sponsor for 2025 will be presented.

To date, 106 permanent projects and 104 specific initiatives have been developed, with the participation of 2,066 and 2,448 volunteers respectively. These volunteers have been present at significant events such as the Oath of the Constitution of Doña Leonor, the 10th anniversary of the proclamation of Felipe VI, the celebration of the International Day of Families, the Three Kings’ Parade and various district festivities.
