In Paris, the National Assembly condemns the Russian attack in Ukraine
The National Assembly adopted, this Wednesday, a resolution which “Condemns in the strongest terms the brutal, unjustified and unlawful attack” of Russia in Ukraine and its “war crimes, even crimes once morest humanity”. Submitted by the groups of the presidential majority, on the initiative of Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade (Renaissance), the text affirms the “fullest support” of the Assembly “to Ukraine, its people, its sovereignty and its territorial integrity”.
The resolution, which has no legislative value, was adopted with 303 votes in favor (one vote once morest, 95 abstentions). A large part of the Assembly applauded its adoption, turning to the Ukrainian ambassador to France Vadym Omelchenko, present in the hemicycle.
The text calls for “a protection zone around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant”. He asks to“intensify the sanctions” once morest Moscow and Vladimir Putin, which the government and the European Union (EU) support “any initiative likely to encourage the end of the conflict” and “France continues to take an active part in welcoming Ukrainian refugees”.
