In the local Raiffeisen Volleydome, Rieder clearly won the first game once morest Amstetten 3-0.
The Rieders started the game furiously and quickly took a 7:2 lead. The first set went to the home side with 25:22, the second round went to Rieder with 25:18.
In the third set, around 600 loud fans saw a real volleyball thriller. The Rieder had several match points, the Lower Austrians might not use some set points. Ultimately, coach Dominik Kefer’s team had the upper hand with 36:34. “My pulse was pretty high in the final phase. It went back and forth. After we finally converted a match point, I was very relieved,” said Kefer following the 3-0 home win. “I’m satisfied with the performance of my team. The great support from our great fans helped us enormously once once more,” said Kefer.
This put Rieder in a good starting position in the quarter-final series. The team that wins two games first advances to the semi-finals. UVC Ried will have the first match point next Saturday, March 11th, with the start of the game in Amstetten at 8 p.m. “We can still turn a few screws and go into the game well prepared. I expect that Amstetten will serve much better than in the first game. We have to be prepared for that,” says Kefer, adding: “The pressure is now on Amstetten .”
