Volkswagen Unveils the Pinnacle of SUV Luxury: Introducing the Tayron, a 7-Seater Powerhouse Designed to Command the Road

Volkswagen presents its latest SUV in Europe, the Tayron, which combines premium class quality with ample capacity and top-level comfort.

The new Tayron will be built in the heart of the Volkswagen brand in Wolfsburg, Germany, and will be available in both five- and seven-seat versions. This model occupies a place between the exclusive Touareg and the versatile Tiguan. Tayron stands out with modern technology, sophisticated interior decoration and offers two plug-in hybrid versions with an electric range of up to 120 km, complementing the usual range of internal combustion engines. In Latvia, the new Volkswagen Tayron will be available for pre-sale in November this year, while the first deliveries are planned for the beginning of spring 2025.

Premium features and performance

The Tayron is based on the latest generation MQB evo platform and offers top-class technology, including features first developed for the Touareg. These include, for example, IQ.LIGHT HD Matrix headlights, the adaptive suspension control system DCC Pro with adjustable shock absorbers, pneumatic 10-chamber massage seats and a spacious interior with real wood trim, providing a true premium feel.

The five-seater Tayron has a luggage compartment volume of up to 885 liters (seats not lowered). On the other hand, if the seats are lowered, the Tayron’s capacity increases up to 2,090 liters.

Seven drivetrain options, including long-range plug-in hybrids

The Tayron will be offered with seven different powertrain options, providing solutions for different customer needs. The offer includes two plug-in or plug-in hybrid versions (eHybrid), partial hybrid (eTSI), two turbo petrol engines (TSI) and two diesel engines (TDI). Engines range from 110 kW (150 hp) to 200 kW (272 hp), providing a wide choice for different requirements. Cars with 4MOTION all-wheel drive are available with turbo petrol and diesel engines, while automatic transmission (DSG) is already standard on all versions. The plug-in hybrid versions offer a range of up to 120 km on electricity alone, ensuring efficient and environmentally friendly daily commuting. In addition, the battery can be quickly charged at direct current (DC) fast charging stations with a capacity of up to 50 kW, which significantly shortens the charging time and allows you to continue your journey faster.

The second largest Volkswagen SUV in Europe

The Tayron is 4,770 mm long with a 2,791 mm wheelbase, making it the second largest Volkswagen SUV in Europe. It offers a spacious cabin and a premium driving experience. With a maximum trailer towing weight of up to 2.5 tonnes, the Tayron is ideal for towing larger loads such as boats or trailers, making it a great choice for those with an active lifestyle.

Three equipment versions with abundant standard equipment

The Tayron will be available in three trim levels – Life, Elegance and R-Line – offering a wide range of standard equipment even in the entry-level version. It includes tri-zone automatic air conditioning, 10-color ambient lighting, nine airbags, adaptive driving modes and a digital infotainment system (display size 12.6 inches diagonally) with App-Connect Wireless for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional features include LED headlights with automatic high beam control, illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear, and a digital instrument panel for a modern and seamless driving experience.

A wide range of assistant systems

The Tayron is equipped with a wide range of assistance systems that are already available as standard equipment. Among them are adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane change assistant (Side Assist) and lane keeping assistant (Lane Assist), as well as a collision prevention warning system with pedestrian and bicycle monitoring (Front Assist). Also available is a parking assistant with front and rear parking sensors (Park Assist Plus), dynamic road sign recognition and an exit warning system that prevents the door from opening when a vehicle approaches from behind, providing both acoustic and visual warnings.

The most modern technologies – HD headlights and DCC Pro

In the new Tayron, the adaptive suspension control system DCC Pro with adjustable shock absorbers is available as standard equipment for both hybrid and 4MOTION all-wheel drive vehicles. IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights and the new IDA voice assistant (available with limited language selection) based on the artificial intelligence platform ChatGPT are also available as optional equipment. Rear sun curtains are also available as an option. Additional options include a panoramic sunroof, a 700 W Harman Kardon sound system and ergoActive Plus seats with massage and ventilation functions. The Travel Assist driver assistant provides assisted driving in all speed ranges, providing additional comfort and safety.
