Prototype Volkswagen ID. Aero, profil
Last week, Volkswagen showed a sketch of its future electric sedan which will take the name of ID. Aero. Today, the company unveiled images of the vehicle in concept form, but as you can see, it’s very close to production.
The good news for our market is that the car will be offered in Canada, information confirmed to us by Thomas Tetzlaff, the public relations manager for Volkswagen in the country. The vehicle, unsurprisingly, will be built on the same platform as the ID.4 SUV that the company already offers us, as well as the ID model. Buzz that will follow for 2024.
This is also the timeline that was given to us for the arrival of this ID. Aero.

As for the name, the use of a diminutive of the word aerodynamic is no coincidence. The company claims its sedan has a drag coefficient of 0.23, which is excellent. Mercedes-Benz, with its EQS, managed to get 0.20. Obviously, the more efficiently a model cuts through the air, the more it improves its autonomy. Since the ID.4 offers something around 400 kilometers, it is easy to imagine a capacity hovering around 450 km with the ID. Aero.
And maybe 500 kilometers, who knows.
As for vehicle format, think of the Passat that has passed away. Moreover, failing to use the name, we guess that this new creation will come to occupy its space in the range and because of the interior volume that should be gained due to the electrical configuration, the product will also appeal to those who had the Arteon in their sights.

As for the style, we recognize the ID signature with headlights and lights similar to the others of the family, as well as a very thin and slender muzzle.
And Volkswagen is betting a lot on this model, which will be marketed in Europe, China and North America. The product will compete with the Tesla Model 3, as well as the future Hyundai Ioniq 6 and the Polestar 2, in particular. The production of the ID. Aero is expected to launch early next year. As we can guess, a production version will certainly be unveiled to us later this year.
