When the new Volkswagen Tiguan debuted in 2023, many were struck by the absence of a seven-seat Allspace variant in its range, but it later turned out that it would be replaced by a new crossover called the Tayron. The day before, such a car was captured for the first time during tests. Photos of the car were published by the British magazine Autoexpress.
The Tayron name is already used in China, but its European version will be different from the “Heavenly” one and will share the platform with the new Tiguan (MQB Evo).
Despite the dense camouflage of the test car, reminiscent of the previous generation of Tiguan, it is noticeable that the car will borrow styling elements from the “younger” model. The Tayron will have a front end design with the same grille and a similar rear end with taillights.
The new generation VW Tiguan has more cabin space, but the Tayron is likely to expand that, potentially offering enough space for seven people. This is evidenced by the elongated rear doors, aimed at providing additional centimeters in the back row.
As for the interior, the new Tayron will likely feature the latest 15-inch central touchscreen display, which is already used in models such as the Tiguan, ID.7 and Passat.
In terms of powertrains, VW’s new roomy crossover should be similar to the smaller Tiguan, offering a mild-hybrid petrol engine and diesel options, as well as two plug-in hybrids.
The Volkswagen Tayron will premiere before the end of 2024.
