Volkswagen postpones the launch of the electric ID.5 to May due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Marrakesh, Mar. 25. (Morocco-News) –

Volkswagen has decided to postpone the launch of its new electric model ID. 5, until next May, due to supply problems resulting from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Deliveries of the new electric range coupe SUV have been delayed due to a weeks-long production stoppage due to a lack of parts at the Zwickau plant in Germany, a company spokesperson told CCA.

In addition to semiconductor supply issues, several vehicle production plants had to temporarily shut down due to a lack of supplies from Ukraine, such as wiring harnesses for cars.

Series production of the ID.5 began at the end of January in Zwickau, a plant that has been completely converted for the production of electric cars and which also houses Audi models.
