Volkswagen Polo Track, the low-budget German that we won’t have

You dream of a Volkswagen Polo Low price ? Except by referring to the second-hand market, you will have to resolve to pay dearly for it. Now available only with a high level of standard equipment, the German currently costs €22,990 in the brand’s catalog in its entry-level version. A few years ago, however, this Polo was still trading well under €20,000 in its low-end variants (like most competing city cars).

The new Polo Track looks like our European Polo in its pre-restyling version

In South America, it is always possible to find a new Polo for less. In these markets where approval standards and customer tastes are not the same, the city car displays a slightly different design from our European model while also using the MQB A0 platform. It costs R$92,990 at first price, or €16,755. Above all, Volkswagen has just launched the new Polo Track there. Stripped version of the normal Polo, the latter sports a different front face (grille, optics, shields) and does without automatic air conditioning or touch screen on-board computer. Replacement of the Golit will start at 79,990R$ or 14,712€.

A 1.0 liter three-cylinder MPI under the hood

This inexpensive Polo Track hides an 84 horsepower naturally aspirated MPI three-cylinder under the hood, capable of running on both gasoline and ethanol. It also imposes the five-speed manual transmission and ignores the dual-clutch DSG transmission offered as an option on the normal Polo. Its price will probably make European customers of the Polo dream, even if it is a much less equipped model.
