Volkswagen has officially “confirmed” plans for both Audi and Porsche brands to enter F1 on the 2026 F1 grid.

It has been reported for several months that McLaren may partner with Audi, but Volkswagen-owned Porsche is also paying attention to the deal with Red Bull Racing.

The issue finally came to light at Volkswagen’s board of auditors on Thursday.

“The boards and auditors of Volkswagen AG, Porsche AG and Audi AG have confirmed the plans of the two group brands for their potential entry into F1,” Volkswagen said.

“The Audi and Porsche brands will provide more details at a later date.”

Not only is the deal subject to signing a contract with the F1 team, Volkswagen, the world’s second-largest automaker, has announced the F1 engine regulations that the FIA (International Automobile Federation) will change in 2026. I’m waiting for you to ratify it.

“The entry decision hasn’t been made yet,” an Audi spokesman said.

“We are in the final stages of evaluation. New regulations following 2026 are not yet available. They provide a wide range of changes for more sustainable sports that are a prerequisite for Audi’s potential entry.”

“For this purpose, Audi Sports is in contact with the FIA and will announce it as soon as a decision is made.”
