At the start of the first season under director Lotte de Beer, the Vienna Volksoper awaits with a renewed facade. The house on the belt will be presented in the color pink cyclam 5. In addition, a handwritten, blue lettering “Volksoper” is to adorn the opera house in the future, the facade of which, in particular the historic part of the building, has been completely renovated and cleaned, according to a broadcast. However, the scaffolding is still standing.

“We want to invite viewers to look at the world through the proverbial rose-colored glasses for a moment, but not to lie or deceive themselves, but to regain control of their own perception and gain confidence,” said de Beer and Christof Hetzer, who was responsible for the redesign concept. The new facade design should also make passers-by curious regarding what is going on in the Volksoper.

In the interest of the environment, a new, energy-saving LED lighting concept was also developed and a photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof in the next few months, which should cover a quarter of the electricity requirement. The Bundestheater-Holding took on the financing and implementation of the work.
