Following the success of their 2021 release “Servant Of The Mind,” the band has been hard at work on their latest offering, which is slated to drop sometime in 2025. Guitarist and vocalist Michael Poulsen shared this news in a recent end-of-year video message,expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming year and the new record.
Poulsen also mentioned that extensive touring plans are in the works for VOLBEAT throughout 2025, promising fans worldwide a chance to experience the band’s electrifying live performances. Adding to the excitement,Poulsen hinted at potential new music for his side project, ASINHELL, while acknowledging the strong support from fans who enjoyed their recent European tour.
The news follows Poulsen’s throat surgery in October 2023. The “Servant of the Mind” vocalist,who previously underwent a similar procedure during the pandemic to remove a polyp,remains optimistic about his recovery. He plans to dedicate 2024 to vocal rehabilitation and songwriting,hoping to lay down vocals for the new VOLBEAT album later in the year.
Poulsen, who has enlisted the help of renowned vocal coach Melissa Cross, expressed confidence in his recovery and future vocal health. “I do warm up *before* a show,but there’s no way I’m gonna use my voice *after* a show,” he said in a previous interview. “I’m very optimistic about the whole thing”.

Volbeat Announces New Guitarist, Michael Poulsen Launches ASINHELL
Danish metal stalwarts Volbeat have parted ways with longtime guitarist Rob Caggiano and welcomed Flemming C. Lund of The Arcane Order as their new guitarist. The news came ahead of Volbeat’s performance at the Rockfest festival in Hyvinkää, Finland, on June 10, 2023. Caggiano had been with Volbeat for a decade,contributing to four studio albums: “Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies” (2013),”Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie” (2016),”rewind,Replay,Rebound” (2019),and “Servant Of The Mind” (2021).
A Grateful Farewell
Volbeat expressed their well wishes to Caggiano, stating, “We wish our brother Rob all the best with everything he does in the future.” They also thanked him “for ten amazing years.”
Poulsen Launches New Project: asinhell
Simultaneously, Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen launched a new heavy metal project called Asinhell. The band’s debut album,”Impii Hora” (meaning ”Ungodly Hour” in Latin),dropped in September 2023 via Metal Blade Records. Asinhell features Poulsen alongside ex-Morgorth vocalist Marc Grewe (of Insidious Disease fame) and Raunchy drummer Morten Toft Hansen.

You recently underwent throat surgery. What prompted the procedure and how is your recovery going?
**michael Poulsen:**
We can’t cancel rock ‘n’ roll, but we gotta take care of our voices! I had a polyp removed, similar to what I experienced during the pandemic. I’m **feeling much better** and have an **amazing vocal coach, Melissa Cross, helping me through the recovery process**.I’m dedicating 2024 to getting back to 100% so I can deliver the best possible performances.

Beyond volbeat, you’re also involved with Asinhell. Any news on the project front?

Asinhell had a great time on their recent European tour, and we’re buzzing with ideas for new music. Stay tuned…
