Volbeat Announces New Guitarist, Michael Poulsen Launches ASINHELL
Danish metal stalwarts Volbeat have parted ways with longtime guitarist Rob Caggiano and welcomed Flemming C. Lund of The Arcane Order as their new guitarist. The news came ahead of Volbeat’s performance at the Rockfest festival in Hyvinkää, Finland, on June 10, 2023. Caggiano had been with Volbeat for a decade,contributing to four studio albums: “Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies” (2013),”Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie” (2016),”rewind,Replay,Rebound” (2019),and “Servant Of The Mind” (2021).A Grateful Farewell

Simultaneously, Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen launched a new heavy metal project called Asinhell. The band’s debut album,”Impii Hora” (meaning ”Ungodly Hour” in Latin),dropped in September 2023 via Metal Blade Records. Asinhell features Poulsen alongside ex-Morgorth vocalist Marc Grewe (of Insidious Disease fame) and Raunchy drummer Morten Toft Hansen. to kick off 2024, Poulsen shared a video message on Volbeat’s Facebook page, giving fans updates on both Volbeat and Asinhell. Michael, welcome! We’re thrilled Volbeat have finished recording your new album. Can you give our readers a tease about what sonic territory you’re exploring this time around?
**Michael Poulsen:**
I’m very excited about the new material.We wanted to **build on the energy of “Servant of the Mind”** while adding **some new wrinkles and surprises.** But fans can rest assured, it’s still pure Volbeat. We wouldn’t wont to disappoint!

And speaking of exciting news, you mentioned extensive touring plans for 2025. Can you give us a sneak peek at what fans can expect from a live Volbeat show?
**Michael Poulsen:**
[Laughs] Let’s just say we’ll be bringing the energy! We always love connecting with our fans around the world, and **2025 will be a year of full-on Volbeat mayhem**. Get ready to rock!

You recently underwent throat surgery. What prompted the procedure and how is your recovery going?
**michael Poulsen:**
We can’t cancel rock ‘n’ roll, but we gotta take care of our voices! I had a polyp removed, similar to what I experienced during the pandemic. I’m **feeling much better** and have an **amazing vocal coach, Melissa Cross, helping me through the recovery process**.I’m dedicating 2024 to getting back to 100% so I can deliver the best possible performances.

Beyond volbeat, you’re also involved with Asinhell. Any news on the project front?
**michael Poulsen:**
Asinhell had a great time on their recent European tour, and we’re buzzing with ideas for new music. Stay tuned…

what can fans expect from Volbeat in the next year?
**michael Poulsen:**
Expect a new album, a world tour, and **lots of loud, heavy rock ‘n’ roll**. It’s going to be a great year!
