This is a future Maserati V6. Specifically the Maserati GranTurismo, which is regarding to make a comeback. And as it should be with such a name, it is quite splendid, even if we will long miss the curves signed Pininfarina of the previous generation.
Ahead of the launch, Maserati unveiled the look of the “Modena” version of the GranTurismo, powered by the brand’s new twin-turbo V6. It’s the same engine as on the supercar MC20. There will also be a Trofeo.
Maserati has not yet indicated the respective power of the two versions. The V6 currently reaches 630 hp on the MC20, 530 hp on the Grecale Trophy. Place your bets…
Modena or not, the GranTurismo is the very essence of a Maserati: a GT (necessarily…) with a front engine, attaching as much importance to refinement as to sportiness. As such, the brand will play big on this “true icon”, whose roots can be traced over three quarters of a century to the A6 1500.
Because we are in 2022, we are also expecting a 100% electric GranTurismo, the Thunderbolt. This announces some 1,200 hp and a 0 to 100 km / h in 2.6 s. Blasphemy? Maybe, but at least we can count on her to bring the GranTurismo back into the spotlight. Which is not so bad, because it is quite splendid.
