On Sunday, a security source reported that unknown persons stormed a religious shrine in the center of the capital, Baghdad, and stole money from it.
The source told that today, a group of unidentified persons broke one of the windows of the shrine of Sheikh Junaid al-Baghdadi in the Al-Alawi area, central Baghdad, and stole an unknown amount of money.
He explained that the thieves fled to an unknown area, pointing to the opening of an investigation into the incident by the security services.
The mosque and shrine of Sheikh Junaid is considered one of Iraq’s heritage and archaeological mosques in Baghdad, and it dates back to the era of the Abbasid Caliph Al-Ma’mun.
