The Greens call for the head of the association of municipalities to draw the necessary conclusions: resign for the benefit of Austria’s municipalities

Vienna (OTS) “Alfred Riedl never gets out of the headlines and the association of municipalities never comes to rest. The latest revelations condense the picture: Mr. Riedl is closest to himself. He thinks of the well-being of the citizens only second, if at all. That will not do. That’s unworthy of a mayor. This is unworthy of the community association and, above all, the citizens did not deserve it. I call on Alfred Riedl to look reality in the eye and take the only last sensible step: resign!” demands Olga Voglauer, General Secretary of the Greens, on the occasion of the latest revelations about Alfred Riedl.

“It gives the impression that Alfred Riedl only has his own profit maximization in mind. In doing so, he damages the reputation of those mayors in our country who work across all party lines for the benefit of the citizens,” says Voglauer.

“I can’t help but assume that Alfred Riedl opposed binding soil protection measures because it would have hurt his own coffers. Did Alfred Riedl fight efficient and targeted measures for healthy and fertile soil because he has a financial advantage from it?”

Ever since the allegations arose, the Greens have been demanding quick and complete clarification of the questionable land deals and rededications in Grafenwörth. Riedl has not yet participated in this clarification, which is still needed quickly, Voglauer concludes.
